The abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A will have to be eventually done to keep Kashmir integrated to India for good. It ought to have been done long ago but the Congress, which is culpable to this offence, failed. The greater the delay in this regard, the deeper the problem will precipitate.
China does not delay in matters concerning national security and has kept its country together. We cite weak democracy to defend our incapacity to act. Democracy in truth would not allow such heresy of Constitutional structure that goes against the very grain of the Constitution. But such are the historical imperatives we are faced with. It is now or never. With every passing day the world scenario changes and technology strengthens the hands of separatists.
So, will the political dispensation of the day have the will to go ahead with this abrogation programme and integrate Jammu and Kashmir to the country for good? For that it will require both the mandate and the political will.
