A MESSAGE TO THE MEMBERS

A MESSAGE TO THE MEMBERS

I request all such members --- in number, very very few, --- who threaten to leave the group by levelling allegations against the administrator, to kindly carry out their intent instead of attempting to put pressure on him to act in accordance to their wishes. The administrator woks day in and day out on this and other like groups and pages for which he neither seeks their accolades nor cares for their condemnations and does not feel at all inhibited or intimidated by their threats to leave the group.

This is a considered statement that I am now going to be making and be prepared for it. Even if all such truant members or those who are uncivil in addressing the administrator in the name of exhibiting superior wisdom and devotion to the subject of this page choose to boycott this group, it will scant make any difference to the cause the group page stands for. Although, it is a collective effort that is being made here to propagate the cause of India's patriot premier for which the contribution of all the members is solicited, the administrator reserves sufficient firepower in his personality to carry on the page, in the unfortunate event of some members withdrawing from the group, by relying on those other members who are truly dedicated to the cause. And the group will continue to its triumphant fruition, come what may.

It is, therefore, puerile to assume superior posturing and try to run down the flow of this page in any preferred direction. Netaji was an oceanic character and his deeds on earth are legion. Therefore, there may very well be divergences of opinion on his life and career, and members are likely to quite often differ in their reading of the contentious concerns of the hero's times. That is, in fact, quite welcome. But to be uncivil to the administrator for such differences of opinion is not acceptable, far less the threat to leave the group at that. It is one's personal prerogative to leave or stay in this group for which none may be blamed. But civility in discourse ought to be maintained.

The administrator is neutral in general when it comes to his executive function of running the group but he is not so when he, as an individual member, makes a post. As such he also has his predilections, preferences, convictions and concerns in regard to the many narratives that do the rounds about Netaji's marriage and disappearance both. Hence, he reserves the individual freedom which every other member has of presenting his own position on these issues in his own posts as well. This, in point of truth, he is overly being compelled to do on account of the paucity of posts per day by other members.

The administrator is a democrat with a difference. He is intolerant of foul language levelled by one member on another and reserves the right to caution any such truant member in as civil a manner as he can manage under the constraints imposed by the circumstances. This group has been running for the last six years or so, and only a handful of egotistic and errant members, who were toxic in their offensive comments, have been ever banned from it. So, to label him as being dictatorial will be grossly incorrect and unfair for democrat he is to a fault. For this very reason the administrator always encourages the posting of the diverse theories of Netaji's disappearance and welcomes reasoned discussions on the same.

The stream is moving and we are no more stranded where we once were prior to the declassification period. As such this page assumes a fair degree of responsibility in advancing the cause of unearthing facts hitherto catching the dust in governmental shelves. Some eminent researchers and scholars are with us in this group such as Drjayanta ChoudhuriKeshab BhattacherjeeMadhusudan Pal,Prof Kapil KumarPurabi RoyMaj Gen Gagandeep BakshiRajyashree Chaudhuri and Ashraful Islam who have done and are doing seminal work on Netaji. My education on the hero is primarily courtesy these gentlemen who have been very helpful, directly or indirectly, in illumining the dark corridors of my mind in this regard. While I pay my respects to these teachers of mine, I also exhort them to contribute regularly to this group page by way of adorning its wall.

Finally, on a note of hope, let it be known to all that it has been determined to organise live video chat sessions from this group page of some of the aforesaid scholars, provided they graciously agree, and it is on the pipeline to also see to it if any such programmes on platforms offline can as well be organised to hammer home the issues concerning Netaji.

A special request to Prof Kapil Kumar, who is quite active on this page, and Maj Gen Gagandeep Bakshi to take up this cause of the resurrection of Netaji and the INA further in the higher echelons of the Government of India and in all the diverse fora that they periodically address, even the press and the television at that.

Thanking you but with a heavy heart just three days from the centenary mourning day of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre,

I remain ever yours in all the martyrs and the truest patriots of then and our times,

Sugata Bose (administrator)
