GIVE UP WEAKNESS AND ALL PRETENSION TO POETIC AND NON-VIOLENT STRENGTH

GIVE UP WEAKNESS AND ALL PRETENSION TO POETIC AND NON-VIOLENT STRENGTH

As I delve through the archive of the military exploits of our heroines of history, I come to the conclusion that we as a nation must militarise ourselves once more befittingly and give up this sorry tale of song and dance and non-violent nonsense, these epithets of Gurudev and Mahatma, this veneration of everything sweet and silly, delicious and debilitating, and once more take to the kshatriya spirit that characterised our historical past from time immemorial. If we do so, we shall survive as a nation. Else, we will forever fight for freedom whenever we lose it to foreign forces and can never be sure if we can retain independence for long.

The entire national narrative must change, that is, this eulogising of non-violence and indulgence in nerve-weakening poetry and music as the dominant themes of national life must be supplanted with the vigorous training of the muscles and the nerves, as Swami Vivekananda was wont to saying, so that martial discipline and strength once more surfaces the average consciousness of our men and women. Then, and then alone, may we breathe in peace when we are ever ready to fight a war to defend it.

Bande Mataram! Jai Hind!
