BHARAT RATNA, ELEVENTH UPDATE : SHALL WE FAIL THEM WHO NEVER FAILED US?

8 JUN 2018 — My dear countrymen and friends across the globe,

Freedom was won by the blood of the martyrs and today we are flourishing in many ways as a nation on account of that. But we have to repay our debt to the martyrs in an equal sacrifice for the continued flourishing of our civilisation. Shall we fail them who never failed us?

Bagha Jatin, Rash Behari Bose and Masterda Surjya Sen were the trinity of revolutionaries who engineered armed revolutions against the British Raj. They were three pillars of our armed revolutionary struggle for freedom. Gandhian non-violent civil disobedience movement has been duly recognised by historians and the world in consequence as having made significant contributions to the ushering in of freedom but the revolutionary armed struggle for the same has not received its due recognition. It is a terrible lapse in the chronicling of history and ought to be rectified.

As a first step towards achieving this objective, this Petition demanding the immediate conferment of Bharat Ratna to our trinity of revolutionary leaders assumes utmost importance. It will create national and international stir about the stated objective and will create an environment whereby future such steps towards course correction in the chronicling of the history of the freedom movement may be undertaken. Bagha Jatin, Rash Behari Bose and Masterda Surjya Sen are far too great for any national award to do justice to their seminal sacrifices for the nation. And, yet, if the nation fails to recognise their efforts, it will remain culpable to the offence of blasphemous historical recording to future generations. Erasing the memory of the revolutionary armed struggle for freedom as has been the attempt of our political dispensations at the helm of affairs thus far, is no less an offence to our motherland than the very offence it had been for the British to occupy our land and necessitate such armed action.

In all fairness it may be, thus, stated that the Petition carries significant philosophical weight and needs its rightful support from the people at whose august assembly it has arrived for its successful fruition. So, do lend in your signatures for the cause that you may be a part as well in the shaping of the destiny of this great nation the memory of whose greatest souls of modern times the Petition aims to resurrect and so set in the process of scrupulous adherence to truth and justice which this nation avowedly stands for.

Thanking you,
Ever in kinship with you all,
I remain forever at your service,
Sugata Bose at the blessed feet of the revolutionaries for freedom.
