CATCH ME IF YOU CAN ... 1

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN ... 1

Genius father's less than talented daughter of no musical calibre or consequence trying to steal the limelight on the basis of parentage but ending up with horrendous musical performance to the shame of all that the father stood for. Two such famous cases. And the said fathers were wholly responsible for promoting such substandard material as worthwhile musical stuff. The public are not cattle that they must be fed fodder.

A third such case, that of a son donning the robes of his great musical father and running the shows still as ever before on the basis of gaudy clothes and good looks and passing on the mantle in the same manner to his sons. Not much to speak of that is in any way exceptional about the music he has been presenting for a long while. Worst of all, to claim that he does so in the name of preserving his glorious familial musical heritage which he ought to do by playing good music than attempting to win the hearts of the audience using looks and clothes and mannerisms, in short, pretensions galore.

But there is the other one --- genius father's genius daughter never opening up to the limelight but shrinking from it as she dived deep in the ocean of music in eternal sadhana to fulfil her father's one wish of her to dedicate her life and learning to the discovery of the Goddess Saraswati in her music. She is still with us but far far away in her reclusive existence beyond ordinary or even extraordinary reach. Her surbahar swelled oceanic waves across the hearts and souls of those that were privy to her home performances. Oh, she is still with us! Must she not be forthwith awarded the Bharat Ratna which, leave her aside, her very disciples have deserved? Or, shall it be once more a trifle too late when the authorities wake up?
