What is meant by the Ramakrishna-aphorism 'As many faiths, so many paths'? It means that sincere and pure adherence to the highest principles of humanity and godliness will surely lead to God. The quest must be true, the motivation pure and shorn of political machinations, the heart must be cleansed of all earthly dross and the soul uplifted towards seeking only the Divine with no other idea attached by way of consequence or derivation. Only then will the Divine reveal to any, be he of any persuasion by circumstance of birth or choice. But there must be no scriptural binding, no ideological appendage constraining the aspirant. Only pure love and love alone shall be the the binding factor for the soul as it trudges, then races towards the arms of the Beloved.
