IN RESPONSE TO DR. DAVID FRAWLEY'S TWITTER POST ON ASTROLOGICAL PLANETARY INFLUENCE ON INDIVIDUALS

IN RESPONSE TO DR. DAVID FRAWLEY'S TWITTER POST ON ASTROLOGICAL PLANETARY INFLUENCE ON INDIVIDUALS

Do not spread superstition in the name of the Vedas whose study Swami Vivekananda had wished to introduce in the then Bengal Presidency to kill superstition. On his last day on earth he had spoken to Swami Premananda to that effect, expressing his desire to have a Vedic College started in the Belur Math precincts.

Now you see what I mean. Spread real science and not astrology which Swamiji, for all his Vedic association and qualified allegiance, looked down upon with contempt. Trying to give astrology a Vedic colour does not validate it nor does it enhance the prestige or validity of the Vedas which stand on the firm foundation of the Brahman and need no props to hold them in place. I know you will say that I am mistaken in my interpretation of your post but I am pre-empting such rebuttal from your side on the grounds that India does not need mumbo jumbo in the name of her spiritual culture as so often is being projected these days, no less by you, and she needs to affirm her real roots in the Upanishads by way of Vedic evolution, heritage and legacy.
P.S. :
Vivekananda reprimanded Nivedita for showing excessive interest in his natal chart and had said, "Not one word more of superstition ! We shall sweep it all away and make places for Advaita, pure and simple."
In a jocular piece that he had once written, Swamiji made short work of astrology in the following manner :
An astrologer predicted the impending death of a king six months from the date. The king asked him as to when he would die, going by his astrological calculations. The astrologer said that he would die after twenty years whereupon the king ordered the beheading of the astrologer there and then and he died instantly giving the lie to his calculations and predictions thereof.
