IN RESPONSE TO A QUESTION POSED TO ME WHETHER NETAJI IS STILL ALIVE ?

IN RESPONSE TO A QUESTION POSED TO ME WHETHER NETAJI IS STILL ALIVE ?

No, not physically alive for sure but alive in principle as personified patriotism, the harmonic citizen, the enlightened leader who could forge in his being and consciousness the harmony of a hundred opposed elements, the eternally alive ideal for future India in every sphere of national thinking, an international leader of rare character and spine who could shake the colonial foundations of that vile British Empire by even making, so to say, 'a Faustian bargain with the Devil', as historian Sugata Bose (not me) has put it. Such a one is ever alive in the nerve-centre of the nation as the harbinger of hope, the personification of principled politics and the votary of justice, fair play and equality in every sense of the term. Indeed, he is Netaji, the venerated leader of the land.
