THE CHOSEN SON OF MOTHER INDIA
The one who sacrificed his life in his foiled bid to integrate Jammu and Kashmir completely and irrevocably with India. He lost his life in the process, victim to a dastardly political design of the powers that be, but his vision stirred the likes of Vajpayee, Advani and generations of his countless other followers who eventually fulfilled his dream. Mother India today stands united from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari.
Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the precursor to the Bharatiya Janata Party, saved West Bengal from falling into the clutches of Pakistan by fighting tooth and nail for its inclusion in independent India. He fired up Parliament with his superb oratory, literally lighting up the house as no less a fellow Parliamentarian and political adversary, Prof. Hiren Mukerjee of the CPI, has vouched in his book 'Portrait of Parliament : Reflection and Recollection, 1952-77', and finally laid down his life to save the honour of India and her territorial future.
A shining star in the firmament of modern India, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee remains an inspirational figure for millions of youths who are patriotic to the core and love Mother India as their very own mother. My reverences to his hallowed memory for the light that he showed us at a twilight hour in our country's horrific history in recovery.
