THE ABROGATION ... 2

THE ABROGATION ... 2

The abrogation of Article 370 has been the most historic governmental act since the days of Sardar Patel's integration of the 562 Princely States with the emerging Republic of India. As such Union Home Minister Amit Shah has followed in the footsteps of the Iron Man of India and exhibited a like iron will in executing at last what ought to have been done post-Independence itself but for the meddling with the integration process by Jawaharlal Nehru. The difference now with then is that then the Prime Minister had differed with the Home Minister in this contentious issue on Kashmir but now the Home Minister has had the full backing of the Prime Minister. History has not forgiven Nehru for his lapse but Modi-Shah have made good a part of the lost deal and written their names in golden letters in history. Why I say 'a part of the lost deal' is because a part of Kashmir and Aksai Chin thereon have been lost to invading Pakistani forces which is yet to be recovered. Sure enough that will also be done in the fullness of time as Pakistan reaps its retribution at the hands of unforgiving history and China begins to realise that it is best to befriend rising India.
