ARISE, MY COUNTRYMEN, AND SHAKE OFF THIS SERVILITY

ARISE, MY COUNTRYMEN, AND SHAKE OFF THIS SERVILITY

Give up this infatuation for men of eminence and learning. They are so full vanity that springs from ignorance. You, O common man of simple bearings and humble attainments, are more full of wisdom than the ones you so admire. You care for them but they have scant respect for you, do you not understand? Do you also not see that this sort of adulation beyond reasonable proportions leads to the dynastic / personality cult that our country so suffers from? This is a feudal servile mentality of the subject towards his master and must be forthwith cast away by citizens of a democracy if they are to progress as a nation towards self-reliance in every respect. That would include self-reliance of every citizen, too. It cannot be brought about by this slavish mentality that stoops before the man of vaunted erudition but no real realisation of transcendental knowledge that bestows humility in the awareness of the sameness of all of phenomena at the base despite surface irregularities and incongruities galore.

So, give up this self-debasement in affording honour to these men of apparent altitude in intellectual attainment but of no great attainment in spiritual or moral perfection as such that may rightfully distinguish them from the masses that follow them in ardent infatuated adulation. Off with this servility and be up on your feet in self-dignity and the awareness of your own latent possibilities lying dormant in your omnipotent Self (Atman). Arise, my friends, and assert your own presence in the rightful manner that befits a child of immortal bliss.
