STAND CLEAR OF MIRACLES AND MIRACLE MEN MASQUERADING AS GOD, O DEVOTEES OF SRI RAMAKRISHNA

STAND CLEAR OF MIRACLES AND MIRACLE MEN MASQUERADING AS GOD, O DEVOTEES OF SRI RAMAKRISHNA

How can devotees of Sri Ramakrishna also worship a Guru who used to perform miracles when Thakur used to categorically repudiate the use of all such occult powers which have neither connection with godhead nor spiritual advancement of any kind? To balance oneself by laying one's feet on two boats, as the Bengali adage goes, one falls midstream and loses spiritual moorings. Either follow Sri Ramakrishna and his spiritual message or follow the occult Gurus and their brand of materialism well-marketed with television aid and often getting caught in the magic act as well as a television corporation did it to the most eminent Guru of them all whose huge handkerchief was caught on camera doing the trick of producing Shiva Lingams instead of the mouth as pretended. To produce ash and rings and necklaces, curing illnesses and doing other miracles of sorts may suit some practitioners of the spiritual trade but surely the devotees of Sri Ramakrishna will not be deluded into following such Gurus, disobeying the specific instructions of the Master.

Spirituality has nothing to do with miracles which are entirely material in nature. Matter does not prove the Spirit and if anybody pretends to be God or an incarnation of God simply because he can perform shady miracles, his is an obvious pretence to perfection and godhead. Sincere seekers of God would be well advised to stay away from such charlatans and seek refuge instead at the feet of genuine holy men like Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda who can by their purity of purpose and perfection of character lead these seekers unto the truth.

Sri Ramakrishna used to forbid all from engaging in miracle-mongering and would never tire of saying that miracles lead ascetics astray, that anyone in the spiritual path ought to eschew any connection with exhibition of spiritual siddhis (miraculous powers) and ought to concentrate rather on getting the vision of God through the practice of purity and self-discipline. Remembering this injunction of the Master, all his devotees would be well advised to stay clear of all such charlatans who trade in religion by offering the miracle bait to innocents and deliberates alike. For all are not merely duped on account of their innocence. Some purposefully hang on to these fraudulent godmen in the hope of receiving earthly benefits and these are the ones that form the body politic of the so-called devotees of these godmen. May the devotees of Sri Ramakrishna spare themselves of such material humiliation in the name of God!

Jai Ramakrishna!
