SWAMI NIRMALANANDA, A PERENNIAL ENIGMA IN TERMS OF SPIRITUAL LINEAGE

SWAMI NIRMALANANDA, A PERENNIAL ENIGMA IN TERMS OF SPIRITUAL LINEAGE

Study the life of Swami Nirmalananda, a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. He was a brilliant monastic of exemplary exertion for the propagation of the Master's message, a monk who was held in high esteem by none other than Swami Vivekananda and a renunciate who established a string of monasteries across Kerala to spread the message of the Avatar of the Age.

A never-ending debate rages, though, as to whether Swami Nirmalananda was / was not a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. The 'History of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission' written by Swami Gambhirananda and 'The Story of Ramakrishna Mission' do not mention him as a direct disciple of Thakur. In fact he is nobody's disciple apparently by such omission. The monastic disciples of Sri Ramakrishna beginning with Swami Vivekananda number sixteen by submission of the Belur Math authorities in all their recent books and Swami Nirmalananda does not figure there. The monastic disciples of Holy Mother and Swami Vivekananda also do not include him. So, whose disciple is this seminal saint?
