WHEN THE UNIT HAS LOST ITS VALUE AND THE VAUNTED MILLION RULES THE ROOST

WHEN THE UNIT HAS LOST ITS VALUE AND THE VAUNTED MILLION RULES THE ROOST

A fifty rupee donation from a man who is in want himself is worth more to me than that of a million from a corporate house, for in the former there is humility and physical pain endured in giving whereas in the latter there is often exhibition, pomp and show and the receiving of an overmuch of attention from the organisation that is the beneficiary of the donation.

Little drops do make up an ocean but God alone remembers this truth, not man who merely craves for easy millions forgetting that only that which he deserves will come by, not more.

It is frustrating to behold distinction between the rich and the poor everywhere in a democracy like ours where all are constitutionally equal but not quite so in real terms. These disparities and distinctions remaining in such a gross manner in society, the spiritual equality preached by the Vedanta remains a distant dream in so far as its practical application is concerned. Man is measured in terms of money, merit and muscle, all three collectively constituting what would be termed might and it is regrettable, indeed, that it should be so.
