THE MASTER'S MISSION ... 2

THE MASTER'S MISSION ... 2

Let not ego sully the spirit. The path of the spirit is tortuous and calls for wary walking. Egotism of all sorts must be rooted out completely if any sufficient advancement in the spiritual path is to be made.

The mind travels along an undulating plain full of elevations and depressions. It is like the movement of the shadow of an aeroplane that flies above an uneven grassland straight. The trajectory of the aeroplane is rectilinear but the shadow moves as per the contour it encounters in the grassland. So also does the mind move through the turbulent terrain of phenomenal consciousness even as the Self serene continues to abide in its lofty altitude in the constancy of its own existence.

This life offers a brief but unique opportunity to escape into freedom. Here and nowhere else, here on earth consciousness, here in the man-vibration is afforded the occasion when we can retrace our steps and sink into the depth-awareness of our being that passes all finite limits and releases us into a limitless liberation whence there is no more return into this captivity of flesh and form. This life is but the golden gateway unto vistas vast where either of two possibilities open up --- relative liberation in the form divine or absolute liberation in the formless Self.

But to reiterate the point I had earliest stressed --- ego must be given up for it is ego that binds, that holds us unto all forms of finite conceptions that decay and degenerate with the passage of that ultimate ally of all change, time. This is the fundamental principle of spirituality --- obliteration of the ego.
