THIS, MY LORD, IS THE CIVILITY LEVEL (REPORTED FROM SELF-EXPERIENCE)

THIS, MY LORD, IS THE CIVILITY LEVEL (REPORTED FROM SELF-EXPERIENCE)

CASE 1 : A speaker is delivering his address and another speaker in line is flipping through the pages of the souvenir for the programme, totally unconcerned about the speech that is going on. Most unceremonious!

CASE 2 : A speaker is delivering his address and people on the dais are blissfully busy in their soft talk about matters pertaining to themselves, totally unconcerned about the speech that is going on. Most incongruous!

CASE 3 : A sitarist is performing his raga and a legal luminary casually ambles in quite late, loudly talking to the minister-in-charge for the Centre about his preoccupations at the football club from where he is coming, much to the shame of the monk who is discomfited by the shamelessness of the celebrity guest. Most regrettable!

CASE 4 : A speaker is delivering his address and another celebrated speaker who is awaiting his turn to speak is looking hither and thither quite unconcerned about the proceedings and totally distracted as if the speech that is going on is of little consequence to him for he knows all the details that form the substance of it. Most discourteous!

Photo : Left -- Swami Gahanananda, centre -- Swami Bhuteshananda, right -- Swami Atmasthananda. These three luminaries are evidently glowing exceptions to this general rule.
