THE WEB THAT NEVER WAS ... 1

THE WEB THAT NEVER WAS ... 1

Innumerable forces, historical and cosmic, are at work to resolve the destiny of man and keep him in perennial servitude. And, yet, man rises, breaking the shackles that bind him, for he is free within where no binding force reaches and therefrom he launches his thrust unto independence. This tug of war between the opposite modes of Nature, the restraining element and the freeing impulse, shift progressively in favour of the awakening soul and he advances unto freedom.

The infinite being cannot be contained, the free soul cannot be held in captivity. It is a wonder how even for a moment the soul may feel itself to be matter, how for even a second, so to say, it gets seemingly trapped into delusion. There the caged bird struggles for free flight, there the lion enmeshed battles to free itself, the embodied soul eventually emerging like the lion breaking through its shackles and roaming free in the forest of the world.

It is no mean attainment, this unshackling of the Self and, yet, it is perennially free, never bound in space and time and causality save in a delusive dream that has never been in real terms. This curious case of truth and untruth mixed, this impossible occurrence, this deliberate delusion has no explanation for it is the conflict of parallel planes --- one real and the other the image --- that have never met.

So, how does the free get bound? How does singularity attain to plurality? How does the real become the apparent? These are pertinent questions seemingly but in essence they are invalid ones when they address themselves to the Absolute as supposedly caught in the relative frame. For the Absolute ever remains so and never quite is caught in Maya. Maya conjures dreams for conscious entities within it to be delusively led into finite conceptions but never can touch the infinite being that remains ever separate and sovereign (svatantra). Traversing through the intricate network of Maya, the web woven so fine that not a particle can slip through unto freedom, the soul (embodied being, the jeeva, the linga shareer) gathers experience and awakes to gradual self-consciousness. Now a tussle begins on the conscious plane of spiritual evolution as the soul declares war on Nature and attempts to free itself from this delusive dream.
