THE MOTHERLAND AND THE MASSES ... 11

A heartless socialism cannot be the panacea for India's evils. Only socialism with a human face based on the Vedanta can remedy India's ills. And this socialism need neither be Marxian in character nor atheistically so. Private property must be there but disparities must be largely reduced through proper policies and their due implementation. For this corruption in government must be rooted out which brings us to the issue of character-formation and the imbibing of spiritual and moral ideals. Thus, spirituality must be the basis of our civilisation as yet as it has been down the ages. The Sanatan Dharma must provide the spiritual foundation of our polity for it alone can successfully harmonise the diverse cultural flows of our civilisation. As Swamiji said, India must rise on the harmonic basis of Vedanta brain and Islam body. But more of it later.
