HINDU SUPREMACY ? ... 2

Hindu ascendancy apparently is natural in a country where the bulk of the population are Hindus. That it has thus far not taken place is because governments till now have worked against this natural evolving feature of a civilisation. They have systematically suppressed Hindu hopes through appeasement of the major minority community for seeking their mandate. They have consistently and cunningly divided the polity to their electoral advantage.
Hindu ascendancy need not imply Hindu supremacy as understood in the West. The whole history of the Hindus has no instance when they were supremacists for the very soul of the Sanatan Dharma militates against it. There is none more accepting of other cultures than the Hindu community and if the Muslims today face what they deem a Hindu supremacist attitude, they are themselves historically to blame for it. They have partitioned the motherland, a sin that will go down in history as their worst offence to the motherland and for which they will have to face the 'High Court of History', to quote Chittaranjan Das, for a verdict on their dastardly deed. The mistrust that has resulted from the thousand year persecution they have perpetrated on the Hindus cannot be easily washed off the mind of the Hindu community and history will restore the balance by a readjustment of forces which will not be to the liking of expansionist Islam. The point here to be considered however is this. Will such a Hindu ascendancy, as seems to be the likely outcome of historical forces running down the ages in eternal India, be conducive to India's good in the short or in the long term? Would it be better instead to bring in a modern approach of statecraft to the whole affair and in right earnest develop India along strictly secular lines free of religious intervention? Well, reams may be written as yet on this but I leave it off here for you to ruminate since further elaboration will rob the discussion of much of its unresolved mystery through enunciation of definite views of the author.
