IN QUICK RESPONSE TO A PASSING THOUGHT

IN QUICK RESPONSE TO A PASSING THOUGHT

It is difficult to remove superstition and misperception about the scriptures where mass ignorance prevails as in hundreds of millions of Indians. The unlettered may roll in ignorance but the self-same action of the educated throws national culture tending to higher humanity in a quandary and reduces social life to a mockery. Writing books by way of clarification of concepts hardly alters the situation on the ground -- although, books in this regard are always welcome for they clarify the conceptions of those who aspire to do the relevant groundwork -- for the population of the land is lazy and averse to intellectual activity that will help illumine them in these matters. Making television programmes may help in this regard provided the good intent of public welfare be there and unnecessary catering to commercial gain is forgotten for the time being. Perhaps, training teachers into becoming superstition-free enlightened citizens is the best way ahead for they can then train young minds at their disposal in schools, individuals who as future citizens may bring about perceptible changes in society. Change is possible and change will come but only in the fullness of time when a newer generation will be ready to cast away the garbage of ages to the bin.
