THE DENSITY OF KNOWLEDGE AND THE DECLINE IN CIVILISATION

THE DENSITY OF KNOWLEDGE AND THE DECLINE IN CIVILISATION

The density of knowledge in our population is abysmally low. The sincerity level is lower. Ignorance coupled with clamour now rules the roost. The natural consequence is non-performance in every field and a precipitous decline in culture.

This is what Swamiji had said was the prevalence of tamas in our masses. Unfortunately, today this tamas has spread its wings and includes much of the urban polity as well.

As sincerity becomes an attribute in rarity, intellectual and cultural excellence declines, academic standards drop and the overall efficiency of the country drastically lowers till it reaches its nadir.

One hopes that the next phase of incline one shall soon see but one may only hope so, no more. Of course, one may and must contribute one's own ploughshare of work for the regeneration that must in due course come. Else, the decline in civilisation, as is so often the case, will be the end of it.
