THE PROGRESS OF THE SOUL ... 1

THE PROGRESS OF THE SOUL ... 1

WHERE LIFE 'IS SPENT IN SHALLOWS AND MISERIES', YET THE MORROW BECKONS ON

It is a waste of a life to indulge in fruitless disputation with adversaries when all that is needed is robust rejection of their wrongful assertions in a rational way. Few who indulge in such diatribe will admit their fault for it is their inertial status of ignorance and the darkening features of character thereof to act in the way they do. Thus, consistently held wrong ideas persist, dogmatic stance and fanaticism hold their sway over vast masses of people that make peace and peaceful co-existence amidst a diversity of opinion impossible. When times are pregnant with the seeds of such thought seeking sprout, a leader arises to give shape to such evil collective propensities of mankind that take men away from the higher verities of life and plunge them into fratricidal war against each other.

Such a state persists first in the family and then it proceeds by degrees to society at large til in the end it engulfs the whole of humankind. For the family is the basic unit of society where men seek shelter from the forest of primeval times and nourish their souls with the food that is humanity's best harvest. Culture, quality, attributes and attitudes are all learnt and fine-tuned in the nursery of the family whose extension is the school and college and the university by turns. But the family remains the fertile or the infertile ground for the sprouting of the individual seed and its blossoming into the flora of the morrow. If weeds grow, as they so often do, they spoil the harvest of ages and render civilisation barren with their toxic injections that surreptitiously move through the quarters of  the cultured and the civilised.

Early impressions hold. What the child till three learns at the feet of the mother or the governess, it makes mature with added data in that direction as the years roll on to turn out into the type of person that adulthood beholds. As such, nascent impressions need nurturing with the highest impulses of the spirit for the babe to mature into the prophet of the morrow, to put this aspect in hyperbolic extreme terms. The mind is so pliable early on to being given the shape that one desires that, barring the resistance to or incapacity of the brain to responding to such stimuli adequately, it can be shaped into the desired cast where good impulses abound and civility dwells as a permanent resident. But the theory of rebirth will also have to be considered in this reshaping of the human personality. But more of that later.
