BHAGAT SINGH -- WOULD HE WERE ALIVE !

BHAGAT SINGH -- WOULD HE WERE ALIVE !

Bhagat Singh's death was a terrible blow to the Indian revolutionary cause. Had he lived on, he could have united force with Netaji and Rash Behari Bose and all the radical left elements in the Congress to forge a powerful front against the Gandhi brigade [not of the INA, though] that would have been a far more potent force than what, with Subhas Bose left alone and marginalised from mainstream politics, eventually transpired.

Bhagat Singh's strategy of soft-bombing the Central Assembly House in New Delhi and then surrendering to voice from jail and the law courts the clarion call for freedom may have paid immediate dividends, as he had envisaged it would, and may have transformed the trio that were hanged at the Lahore Jail for the Saunders Murder Case into legendary figures, but from strictly factual analysis of things it may be shown that his self-immolation thus paved the way for the Nehruvian dominance of Indian politics with Partition, perversion of freedom attained and all its ilk rendering sterile the sacrifices of the revolutionaries and the martyrs, prince among whom Bhagat Singh himself was.

Remember, Bhagat Singh would have been only forty years old in 1947 and could have held the reins of governance of independent India in a big way despite his Marxist leanings, and this would have radically altered Indian politics and prevented the sixty-year rule of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty. The history of independent India would have radically changed and, who knows, perhaps, Netaji would have had better support for his revolutionary cause of freedom, assuming that Bhagat Singh would not have acted in the anti-national manner of the Communist Party of India in the 1940s and would have aligned himself completely to the nationalist cause with Netaji Bose. Intricate are these international issues but I am sure that Bhagat Singh like Subhas Bose would have placed national interest ahead of Soviet interest and moved on shoulder to shoulder with Netaji in the struggle for freedom.

A final word. Bhagat Singh was no Nehru that he would have betrayed Netaji and threatened to arrive sword in hand to fight the incoming INA.

Vande Mataram ! Jai Hind ! Inquilab Zindabad !
