When giving a speech it is easier to talk if the subject is broad-based and not too narrow in definitional terms. I, for one, prefer much if allowed a free rein in talking on a subject where I can ramble unrestricted in bringing home the larger message I wish to convey in relation to the subject of discussion. Too constricted a talk hinders flow and curtails freedom which is not to my liking as a speaker.
