ORGANISATION, THE NECESSARY EVIL

ORGANISATION, THE NECESSARY EVIL

Organisation overmuch leads to war which is why Western nations, with their regimented modes of living and over-emphasis on organisation to achieve socioeconomic progress, are so prone to it. Soldiers, when they cross a suspension bridge, break steps to avoid a resonant collapse of the bridge. So also do nations, that have too rigid an organisation of the polity, fall prey to resonant vibration when they express the power so developed in them by waging war on neighbouring nations. Nations like India with their loose political organisation do not subscribe to such violent instincts and seldom wage aggressive wars on their neighbours. The problem lies in the inability of hyper-organised nations in directing the force generated within their ranks along creative channels consistently owing to the probability of evil men getting to their leadership at some point of time by the law of averages. Wisdom, unless brewed to maturity in a nation, does not succeed in restraining these evil elements merely by precept which is apt to be misinterpreted to violent ends by men who, like the proverbial Devil, can 'cite the scripture for their purpose'.

The European nations have all relied heavily on social organisation to a fault in this regard which has led to their gathering sufficient force to wage war on each other for regional supremacy and also to spread their wings in colonising campaign across the world culminating in two world wars and a third cold war. The rise of Nazi Germany and fascist Japan have both had superior organisation of their polities to power the movements and later to direct the violent outcome of their respective regimes. Hence, organisation is a necessary evil. Without it civilisation cannot be and overmuch of it endangers the survival of civilisation itself. Thus, optimum organisation with sufficient checks and balances by developed democratic institutions and an enlightened polity is the key to the continued flourishing of civilisation.
