1. I find it amazing that Hindus are so very defensive about stating that the fundamental civilisation of India stems from the Vedas. The question though is what it truly signifies. Well, to my mind, it discards exclusiveness of all kinds and to that extent it does not subscribe to Islamic or Christian exclusiveness as well, leave aside that of Hinduism of the current political kind. So, the acceptance of the Sanatan Dharma in truth would lead to the voluntary abdication of all political monarchs, chieftains and feudal lords of the present day. Therefore, let politics remain politics and let socioeconomic issues guide it instead of religious and spiritual ones for which there is no leader worth the salt who can measure up to in terms of morality and stature. This polarisation of polity through the use of religion is an ancient political tool of monarchs and dictators which must be given up in the modern world strictly and human welfare catered to in the name of genuine nationalism which ought to be another term for concern for the citizenry and the need to protect them from internal and external danger.
