THE SHAMELESS COLONIAL HANGOVER

THE SHAMELESS COLONIAL HANGOVER

Our Prime Minister must study the history of the deceitful British ascendancy in India before setting foot on Britain again and offering his cordial hand of friendship to that dastardly country which had reduced us to penury and eventually effected the dismemberment of our motherland. Should the PM fail to do so, it will be proof of his unpatriotic stance for sure.

The PM must exhibit greater self-respect while making his trips to Britain and in this regard must take the cue from the Chinese Premier Xi Jinping. When Narendra Modi visited England the first time, he literally sold his self-respect in apologetically stating that he hailed from the most humble background of a tea vendor. This was immediately cashed in by the British Prime Minister who craftily rubbed a verbal insult in to the Indian PM. This made headlines as the BBC then played the edited video clip of the aforesaid statements to the exclusion of all else in their newscast the whole of that day and the next. Contrast this with the way Xi Jinping conducted himself when in Britain a few months later. The Chinese Premier said that China was a powerful and a prosperous country which had nothing to gain from his visit to Britain and that he had done so only at the express invitation of Britain which he had out of courtesy accepted merely. This was a powerful statement and stood in sharp contrast to our PM's slovenly attitude when in Britain the first timed despite the fact that he was enormously popular among the Indian diaspora there.

But why care so much for those who have left India to settle in Britain which has historically been the worst enemy of India? Why remain in the British Commonwealth of Nations any more? Why bother about British investment in India? Why criticise Nehru for his Britain-friendly stance while carrying on shamelessly the same thing even now by way of official and unofficial attitude and policy? When will we learn to be self-respecting as a nation? Alas, when?
