Our television journalism must not be the ritual nighttime ruckus as retrograde republicanism thrusts on us but must be reasoned deliberation on issues that affect us all, constructively presented and coherently so. These sorts of TRP-fetching tantrums must not be tolerated for they lower national consciousness through mass proliferation and reduce civic mind to roguish mentality by their insistent recourse to on-screen rowdyism. There must be civic resistance to such channels through the lowering of their TRP if at all we care for our country. If, however, we persist in our patronising of these, then it will mean the sad demise of civic culture which can only spell the degeneration of our polity in ethical terms.
