US peace negotiations with Afghanistan will soon bring the Taliban back to power there with consequent rapid rise in jihadi terror in India. It is necessary to prevent the Taliban from gaining political ascendancy in Afghanistan but with Pak-backing, it is unlikely to happen. Catastrophic consequences await India unless now we break the terror backbone of Pakistan. But with impending national elections, that is an unlikely possibility and beyond one more pre-poll surgical strike, any escalation is not in the offing.
