An assumed air of superiority or insincere nationalism in the name of Hinduism, and that too from secure foreign habitation, hardly brings out the best of our culture. Neither do apologies afforded on behalf of being labelled a Hindu does our national culture rolling down the ages any good. Robust nationalism stems from selflessness and from the sense of neither feeling victimised always nor having the typical knee-jerk response of online aggression against supposed adversaries in nationalistic feeling, while retaining for oneself all off-shore privilege of earning in alien nations and contributing a cipher to the motherland in terms of service or labour. It is easy to pull us up from a distance of economic safekeeping but far more hazardous to suffer the rigours of nationalism while remaining subject to harsher economic conditions here at home. Hence, the best way way ahead will be for these distant cousins of ours in foreign countries to keep their counsel and serve the nations they have chosen to be their habitat better while allowing us to carry on with our programmes for national self-regeneration.
