The personality cult rules India despite token protestations against dynastic politics. This constant refrain by the BJP of the PM's name in every line uttered is strongly reminiscent of a similar stance adopted by the Congress during PM Indira Gandhi's reign. It is a constant hammering of a name into the public psyche that does the trick in India, I guess, personality bound as the people are. The feudal mindset continues and so does dynastic politics.
Dynastic politics is but the outflow of this adoration of the person over principle. It will be another generation yet that lies in the womb of futurity that will spell the doom of this personality cult and release the polity into the fresh air of principle-based politics.
