PRACTISE YOUR FAITH WELL AND STOP CONVERSION

Hindus must practise their religion more religiously to be able to withstand the constant pressure exerted on them by Muslims to convert to Islam in Islamic States like Pakistan. The very practise of daily meditation and chanting of the Ishta Mantra will work wonders in warding off these nefarious elements largely, for spiritual practice strengthens the will to withstand the negative pressures of life.

It is a pity indeed that Islam thinks Hinduism / Sanatan Dharma to be less in spiritual authenticity than itself, although, Hinduism gives equal recognition to all faiths including Islam. This imbalance has not been addressed ever with the result that one-sided conversion has carried on from Hinduism to Islam for a millenium, reducing the number of Hindus in the subcontinent and increasing that of Muslims. Unless conversion is stopped or equal conversion is allowed by Islam of its adherents to Hinduism, there remains no hope of amicable co-existence of these two communities. It is time for Muslims to mature and stop converting Hindus so that mutual trust may be won and peace prevail. After all, religion is but a way to reach spiritual perfection and the object of following one's faith ought to be that and not gaining in numbers which is a political game after all.

Chandra Kumar Bose : How does it matter whether Netaji is married & has a child? You are free to discuss discuss is public life- but not his personal life!

Sugata Bose : There is such a thing called the personality profile of a human being. On any national or international document one is supposed to furnish one's identity details such as nationality, gender, age, date of birth, permanent address, marital status etc. In the absence of these one's profile remains incomplete and hence, the document itself is considered incomplete as well in terms of data-filling. When it comes to all human beings on earth, this seems to be the accepted procedure of both official documentation as well as historical representation. However, due to some strange aberration of logical principles, this does not seem to be the case when it comes to Netaji. There seems to be a peculiar and quite inexplicable irritation on the part of some to any counter-proposition to their unproven self-assertions about Netaji's marriage and progeny.

I find it a bit amusing that to openly affirm and harp on the fact that Netaji had a wife and daughter is alright in terms of public discussion on him despite the unproven status of such personalities in his reference but the countering of such claims is to be considered prohibited for it supposedly breaches personality privacy. This seems to be a privilege demanded by some which is untenable in terms of logical or ethical principles. The right to public discussion of public personalities is not exclusive and democratic discourse demands that there be continuous debate and deliberation on contentious issues of national significance till resolution is reached. The propagation of Netaji's so-called marriage and fatherhood are of momentous national consequence as they alter in public mind their image of the hero from being snow-chaste to being tarnished as one who secretly entered into conjugal alliance in defiance of all his publicly professed statements before and after the so-called event of 'marriage'. Hence, it is of utmost importance to the unfolding movement of our nation that truth be established once and for all whether Netaji was a bachelor or a married man, just as it is vital to determine what happened to him post-disappearance. It seems to to me that every possible avenue needs to be looked into to untangle the whole mass of mystery surrounding him and that is the way of intelligence operations as well.

Imagine someone suddenly after the demise of Swami Vivekananda had started spreading the story that he was secretly married and had a child somewhere. Would you not contest it by way of protecting the sanctity of his personality, his public image and for the establishment and preservation of truth? Would it then be regarded as violation of private space and a topic not for public discussion? Would it not be a public shame if you did not voice your considered feelings or raised logical questions as to the veracity of the stupendous affirmation? Would you not burst out in indignation at the calumny thus cast? Then why so different is it when the personality involved is Netaji, a person of recorded continence, self-affirmed, and of unimpeachable character, averred by friends and associates except some malicious propagators of untruth who had and have their own concerns to look to? Does your manhood fall short now in rightful indignation of this calumny?

And please do not divert discussion by sharply pulling me up for dragging Swamiji into it which evidently I am not doing here except to provide a radical illustration of the case to drive home the pertinent point. As one who has spent his entire adult life dedicated to the mission of Swamiji, I can vouch that my mentioning this imaginary case related to him is but an attempt to dramatically establish our right to public discourse on this contentious 'marriage-progeny' issue and, thus, safeguard the purity of the personage that Netaji was / is as rightful distant disciple of the venerable Swami. I say this only in anticipation of yet another diversion that may be attempted to derail the present discussion and, hence, request beforehand that such an attempt be not made as a post-truth measure and that rationality be met with rationality.

If the air-crash theory about Netaji's so-called death is a public affair to be contested so as to know what happened to his body and being post his disappearance on 18 Aug, 1945, then why is it that contesting this unproven case of marriage and progeny unworthy of public discussion when the attempt here is to remove the aspersions on his character and not to cast such on him?

Netaji's personality, purity, self-avowed adherence to the spiritual ideals of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda and equally self-avowed commitment to the cause of the motherland's freedom while remaining a committed single person without familial marital attachment is testimony to the fact that there has been hatched a huge conspiracy (a) to kill him in air on 18 Aug, 1945 and (b) to defame him through a strange legally untenable marital alliance and progeny thereof, both of which are claims unsubstantiated by documentary evidence. If, therefore, it is worthwhile to investigate the air-crash episode and keep it ever in vociferous public discussion often tantamount to uncivilised conversation, then why is discussion on the alleged marriage affair so profane when the same conditions hold for it, too? Could it not be that the two episodes of infamous non-occurrence are linked in a common bond of conspiracy hatched by interest groups and individuals so that India's political future would be doomed despite partitioned freedom?

A last word before I conclude and it is this : Only those who have ever attempted brahmacharya and succeeded at that and have the revolutionary fibre in them are capable on comprehending what a supernal soul Netaji was, a true hero and a worthy disciple of Swamiji. Others who are compromised to the petty claims of life and living can scarce understand the glory of this soul that visited us for a while to deliver us unto freedom. Let them while away their time with the littleness of life's offerings including the tales told about Netaji's marriage and death. As far as I am concerned, I fully and thoroughly reserve all my rights to publicly discuss every element of my leader's life and personality and I need not heed anyone's advice in this matter to direct my course of action.

Rash Behari Bose shines in my estimation as the preeminent revolutionary of the freedom struggle. His revolutionary activity stretching across four decades with innumerable encounters with near capture and escape donning almost impossible disguises baffles the mind and one is almost persuaded to disbelieving the saga of his life so daring were his exploits which remain a rarity in the annals of world history and in human experience in consequence.

Rash Behari's revolutionary stature is almost unparalleled in the history of our freedom movement in terms of sheer integrity to the nationalist cause, the undying will to achieve freedom at any cost, yet, never stooping low and casting morals to the winds to attain his ends. He outsmarted the British intelligence at every bend and turn in his long career and destroyed their cherished Raj from within and without the country.

India has abandoned him like she has done to so many other revolutionaries. But Japan has accepted him as one of her very own, conferred on him in life her highest national honour and given him in death the royal carriage to carry his mortal coil to its rightful destination.

And why must it be so? I say, it is human apathy here that has contributed to the eclipsing of the life and works of these heroes even more than it has been governmental policy to keep a lid on their contributions.

Time for a change, though, and it is with this intent that these essays, short and interpretative and full of historical references, have thus been initiated for the rediscovery of Rash Behari Bose. Now it is up to the power of my pen to be able to capture the attention of my readers and redirect their study to this epic period of revolutionary activity in India when our hero had played the principal part in almost overthrowing the British Raj.

Sugata Bose : You talk of rewriting the true history of the Indian Independence Movement and, yet, you think resisting the proliferation of this unproven case of marriage and progeny a 'useless and unnecessary' exercise, a 'silly question' at that, and a 'nonsensical' proposition to which 'sensible persons' ought not to 'pay any attention'. Strange is your fidelity to historical truth!

By the way, what is your take on this unproven issue? And how is it that the so-called marriage is not important to the historical narrative? Netaji has never admitted marriage and progeny in any of his lectures or writings barring the sole letter displayed as 'his' in the Netaji Research Bureau. Many of his Party comrades and comrades-in-arms in the INA have not subscribed to this narrative of the so-called marriage or love alliance, as and how it may stand in the eyes of the law. I admit many others do accept the 'marriage-daughter' narrative and, hence, it is pertinent to the discussion whether Netaji had actually married / entered into love-alliance or not. After all, it concerns his character and profile most critically. We are to go by evidence and not by hearsay or familial assertion in this matter.

I have in no way thrown the historical discussion on the freedom movement out of gear but have rather brought the searchlight onto a most contentious issue of our freedom struggle in bringing this unresolved element into public focus once again. If anyone is trying to divert the discussion, it, surely, is not me. I am confident that the people of my motherland have character enough to ponder on the logical imperatives pertinent to the discussion and have the ability to pick the grain from the chaff. I have reason to believe that they have the capacity to distinguish between fact and fiction and arrive at the truth. Lastly, I respect the common man's intelligence so as not to insult their integrity in insinuating that they may be 'diverted from the main issue' in reading my post. It is not only improper to castigate them thus but uncivil to cast aspersions on my intent in writing this post.

My whole life stands testimony to the fact that behind my literary propagation of my diverse thoughts on spirituality, nationalism and sociological issues there has never been any ulterior motivation that has prompted me to say or write anything partisan or coloured by mischievous self-interest. I have never made capital in any way from my writings on social media, am totally apolitical and unaffiliated to any interest group or pressure group other than the impulsion of my conscience and conscientiousness. It is, thus, strange that you should so adversely react to my innocuous but pertinent post which in your estimation you have relegated it to being a 'silly, useless and unnecessary question' of 'nonsensical' intent and content. I am not sure that you will get too many sympathisers for your diatribe at me, for umpteen number of people hold the opposite view to yours as you, perhaps, very well know.

And, for your kind information, may I apprise you in advance that my pen shall keep on posing these uncomfortable, nay, unpalatable propositions in the future as well, with increased vigour and logical thrust to boot, for these are issues that need resolving like the disappearance issue and are central to the rewriting of our true history of the freedom movement, much perverted by political and familial interest.

KNOW THY ENEMY

Never trust the British after what they have done to the world to get to their pelf and power. They are hypocrites even today. Just the pretence of civilisation while inner barbarism reigns unholy yet.

We, Indians, must never forget what they have done to us in their perfidious reign for two centuries in our holy land which has been despoiled and desecrated by their lustful presence. That we have won our freedom has not been a gift from these thugs across the Atlantic but has been the coarse consequence of the torment suffered by our countless millions and the blood, red-rich, spilled from the arteries of our martyrs to freedom. We must never forget the lasting divide the British created in our polity to partition our motherland --- for which they will have to pay one day with dismemberment of their nation, too --- nor must we forgive them ever for every deceit they practised on us to wrest our liberty and reduce us to beasts of burden from which we suffer even today thanks to the continuation of the Raj in its new avatar as the political dispensation since Independence, whatever the term may mean, anyway.

We must reorganise ourselves to reclaim our history and heritage, not by clamouring like spoilt children who have been denied their playthings but like mature citizens, knowledgeable and possessed of character and conviction, who shall rise in self-consciousness to build up the collective consciousness of our countrymen. Knowledge is wealth and knowledge is power. So, arise, my countrymen, and seize this opportunity to know more about your own culture. Stop imitating other races, especially, this Anglo-American culture that is eating into the vitals of our educated urban citizenry, and arise to a sense of nationalism. In this self-awakening lies the future glory of our nation. Forget not your history, how you lost your freedom to hordes of Islamic invaders and then to the Europeans of a worse kind so that the sun of the Sanatan Dharma sank below the horizon for a thousand years and is now beginning to redden the eastern sky once more ever since the advent of Ramakrishna and Vivekananda. Will you allow a second eclipsing of it?

How do some of us forget the torment of our freedom fighters at the hands of the British police in the Cellular Jail and celebrate our stay in London to enjoy the festivities of the royal wedding? A nation of forgetful fools, are we? Have we sunk to such an abysmal level of ignorance or shamelessness and loss of self-respect despite the knowledge of such atrocities that our revolutionaries endured at the hands of these barbarous British that some of us choose to settle in England to further the cause of self-interest and, as if such betrayal in terms of change of habitat were not enough, we add insult to injury to the memory of the martyrs to freedom by making ostentatious presence at the wedding of a member of the royal family that plundered our motherland for well over two centuries and inflicted untold inhuman suffering on our people during their heinous stay in our land? It is time to reflect where we stand as a nation and what our responsibilities are to our liberators from foreign yoke.

MARCH WE MUST UNTO FREEDOM

Yes, indeed, and we must work with a semblance of revolutionary zeal as inspired in us by our illustrious forefathers, the harbingers of freedom, the sacrificial offerings at the altar of Mother India as She threw off Her colonial fetters to embrace Her heroic children. Yes, we are on the march and must keep marching till the dream of the revolutionaries stands realised in the arrival of an illumined polity that shall bear its heritage in right earnest and carry the evolutionary impulse ever ahead till humanity stands redeemed in the pristine principle of spiritual oneness.

VITALITY GAINED AND LOST *********************************

Fasting, self-infliction of pain, irrational austerities all tend to fanaticism as the energy they generate in the system, being not tempered by reason, vitalises the being along destructive channels. This is why all religions must have a sound philosophical system as the back-up of their core values and articles of faith. Else, they inevitably degenerate into political movements of a malefic kind that cause untold damage to civilisation. The Christian and the Muslim traditions of conquest and conversion bear ample testimony to this thesis and when the going became rough for each, history records the tumultuous events of the 150 year long Crusades and the Jihads which sent civilisation to despair. These Semitic religions, intolerant and exclusive, hold out a regimented programme before all and sundry which they call their divine commission of world conversion but they do not realise the fundamental flaws in their enforced systems of faith, their own hypnotism into self-submission to an extra-cosmic deity they term their God and their foolish movement against the grain of universal diversity of surface existence. Deep within the whole of phenomena is in essence one and no religion need be prescribed to man to apprehend this. The evolution of thought will make this appreciation possible in a much more civilised way than this crude attempt to convert everyone to the story of the Maker and His made will ever manage. AN EXHORTATION UNTO ALL

28 MAY 2018 — My dear countrymen and friends across the globe,

I request everybody to sign this Petition. I am a responsible person and know full well that Bagha Jatin, Rash Behari Bose and Masterda Surjya Sen are far above even this highest national decoration of the Bharat Ratna which over decades has got devalued by its conferring on many an unworthy candidate whose names, for civility's sake, I refrain from mentioning here. However, it is better that we today create a stir about this trio of revolutionaries to prevent their sinking into oblivion in the minds of the present polity and to, thus, raise consciousness about the revolutionary movement that had rocked British India and driven off the roguish regime from the heart of our motherland. I, therefore, seek your signature support for the movement which is now barely in its primary phase but which, I can assure you, with the blessings of our martyrs to freedom, will gather momentum over the months till it pressurises the Government of India to give rightful recognition to these valiant sons of Mother India.

THE FUNERAL OF MUSIC ... 1

Everybody sings nowadays for recognition but the quality of music rendered is abysmally poor. This is a general trend and is not particular to any genre of music as such. Even in Hindustani classical music this decline in musical standard is quite evident as Pandits and Ustads by self-assertion and the clamour of disciples proliferate reducing rendition in public to a sham. Tagore music is no exception to this rule nor is film music whose standard has over the decades steadily plummeted. The worst hit has been the spiritual ethos of music as even 'shastriya sangeet' has had a funeral at the hands of these modern exponents of the trade. Trade, I call it, because that is what classical music has now been reduced to.

MUSINGS ON THE MAHATMA ... 1

Gandhi's contribution to the freedom movement was in his giving it mass base and so raising a counter national will that could challenge the collective will of the Crown. Beyond this he was a failure and it was left to historical circumstances and the revolutionaries to lead the country to freedom.

Gandhi became inconsequential from after the Quit India Movement of 1942 and it was left to the British to ally themselves with Nehru and Jinnah to conveniently partition India and debilitate her for good. Non-violence can never drive away a mighty world power from its colonial possession and neither did Gandhian non-violence succeed in doing so. Had the revolutionaries, that is, Rash Behari Bose, Netaji and the Indian National Army, in alliance with Imperial Japan, not precipitated circumstances within India and catalysed mutinies in the British Indian Armed Forces in 1946, the nation would not have been freed. Just like after the First World War when the victorious British unleashed horrendous brutality on the Indians to strike stronger control over their colony, the same would have been the fate of India after the Second World War had the INA not been instrumental in driving the British off. Britain would have soon recovered from the ravages of war by plundering India further and kept us in perpetual bondage till kingdom come.

It is in this light that Gandhi's contribution to the freedom movement must be seen, as a corollary to the basic theorem of revolution that did the job and not as the theorem itself as is mischievously preached by the protagonists of the Anglo-American consortium who now vouch the cause of these neo-colonists.

Historians are hired intellectuals who write what their paymasters ask them to do and who distort the story of man to suit their self-interest. So, their accounts of denunciation of Netaji and the revolutionaries need not bother you, O reader, who have embarked on the voyage of self-discovery of facts from diverse sources. May you be led by your research to arrive at your own conclusions!

TIME FOR INTROSPECTION, THE SEASON FOR CHANGE

How can we continue to be member of the British Commonwealth of Nations? How do we settle in England, the nation that has despoiled and desecrated our motherland for two centuries and reduced us from being the richest nation on earth to one of the poorest? How do our children, the brightest among them, so easily take to their foreign flight to pursue higher education and then never ever think of returning to serve the motherland? Why must this imitation of everything western eat into our urban culture and make our own city-bred people hollow? My countrymen, this should not be. No nation devoid of self-respect can rise and neither shall we this way. Forget not Swamiji's 'Swadeshmantra', his sublime formulation for future India. Read it now and determine how far you are from fulfilling his terms. Then, if you are conscientious enough, reform your ways and serve the motherland. We ought not anymore to remain cultural hybrids but must forthwith strike deep national roots to become men and women of substance. May our motherland prosper, not at the expense of other nations but in the collective bid of humanity to rise to self-sustenance! Bande Mataram!
