TULSI MAHARAJ, THE FORGOTTEN APOSTLE OF RAMAKRISHNA ... 1

TULSI MAHARAJ, THE FORGOTTEN APOSTLE OF RAMAKRISHNA ... 1

Tulsicharan Dutt was born to Takamani Devi and Debnath Dutt, their sixth child, on Wednesday, 23 December, 1863 at 8.30 p.m. at 20, Bosepara Lane, Bagbazar, Kolkata. It was the Shukla Chaturdashi Tithi and Rohini Nakshatra in the month of Dhanu. Before Tulsi's birth Takamani Devi had devoutly worshipped the Tulsi tree in the courtyard for a long time. When she was eventually blessed with the birth of yet another male child, she named him Tulsicharan by way of expressing her gratitude for the benediction she received in the form of this divine child. Later, the couple was blessed with the birth of their last child, a daughter at last.

The child's horoscope revealed an extraordinary future and he came to be doted by her mother and by her relatives. He suffered from frail health but manifested early on a powerful personality and an indomitable will which made him a force to reckon with. However, his sunny looks and compelling nature, his buoyancy of spirit and razor-sharp intelligence, endeared him to all and he grew up in the love and care of his family till at the age of ten, tragedy struck.
