ARISE INDIA ... 37

ARISE INDIA ... 37

Appeasement of the minority aggravates societal problems and majoritarianism imposes a dictatorship within a democracy. Both are reprehensible and need to be shunned. The enlightened approach of a common acceptance ought to be the way out and this is possible with the proliferation of universal education within the country.

All the citizens of India are dear to me for I see myreflection, clear or blurred, in all of them, and I exhort all to engage in mutual respect and reverence and in social exchange wherever possible so that a nation, integrated and strong, emerges where the different elements that compose it combine effectively to build up a powerful national will that will conduce not only to the well-being of the nation but will contribute creatively to the well-being of the world as well.

India must show the world the way to peaceful co-existence and harmony of living where acceptance is the code and not mere toleration of each other. Should India herself fail to exhibit it, what right would she have to preach her pristine spiritual principles to the world? Thus, it is a sine qua non that India practises what she holds as her cultural inheritance in the realm of spiritual ideas before she ventures forth in the world to propagate the truths she is heir to.

Political parties today are holding the population to ransom in connivance with crony capitalists and the vast mass of humanity here is deprived of the quality of living that they by dint of citizenship in rights and duties are legitimately supposed to be enjoying. This ought to change and will change only when education penetrates deep into society making men out of live bodies with the character to sacrifice and serve the nation in a selfless manner for the good of one and all. Vote bank politics will then be a thing of the past and the common man will then be more difficult to deceive with empty promises and failed programmes. The polity also will then be more difficult to fracture along divisive lines of religion and caste, for the citizens, educated and aware, will be alive to these political perfidies perpetrated to seduce them into electoral submission to fill the coffers of the conspirators in a common collusion.

But the problems facing the nation are many and complex and it will require strong national leadership backed up by a powerful polity that keeps the pressure up on the government to deliver on its stated manifesto. Education is the key and awareness its consequence that must play the primary part in this unfolding drama of national resurgence. Jai Hind!
