HOW LONG MUST LEVITY HOLD US TO RANSOM?

HOW LONG MUST LEVITY HOLD US TO RANSOM?

Indians are a good lot but suffer too much from levity of being. This ought to change in the light of awakening national self-respect.

How can we accept such indignities as the occupation of our territory by Pakistan and China without demur? How can we even think of befriending the country which is an assortment of our erstwhile provinces robbed from us by murder and rampant perpetration of terror with a compliant British Crown allying with it and a toothless Congress mutely witnessing the savagery?

How on earth does Bengal, the land of Tagore and Nazrul, remain fractured along communal lines with Islamic fundamentalism ever on the rise and threatening the very security of the Hindus on either side of the border?

How in holy heaven's name may we offer a hand in friendship to China that has robbed us in Arunachal, in Aksai Chin and is weaving its 'String of Pearls' to adorn our motherland's neck when the next great global conflict takes place?

How can we yet remain in the British Commonwealth of Nations even as a special Republic which means the indirect acceptance of the British Crown as our sovereign however much we may hide under the cover of technicalities to yet uphold our absolute sovereignty on paper and in practice? What compels us to remain affiliated to the very power that had subjugated and despoiled us for centuries?

Why is it that we, Indians, must so remain gullible ever despite having suffered at the hands of invaders for millenia and brutally so for the last one thousand years?

It is time for Indians to stop being naive and foolish enough to take everything lightly. Our very security depends on our serious understanding of the international issues at hand, our history, its heresies, the fissiparous tendencies which threaten our national integration and the measures we ought to adopt to flourish as a nation and as a civilisation. Above all, let us grow up into becoming mature citizens for our national maturity will be the collective output of it all. In our seriousness as responsible citizens lies our individual and national security.

Jai Hind!
