GURUDEV 2

Character is built by renunciation of desires and working for the well-being of all. This life is a rare opportunity for realisation of the Self or, in simpler terms, God. The human body is the most refined nervous system wherein divinity is manifest in its fullest magnitude as in the incarnation of God. And, in a sense, we are all divinities on earth, incarnations of the Most High. We are the children of immortal bliss, 'amritasya putra' as the Shvetashwatar Upanishad in trumpet voice proclaims. But our physical senses being oriented in the external direction, we are scarcely aware of our divine Self and our spiritual interior. This oblivion of our own Self is the cause of all the trouble we encounter in life and whosoever helps us regain this lost empire of our Self is the greatest benefactor of mankind.

Our inordinate craving for life's material pleasures, the sensory joys, is the aberration of our longing to gain the infinite bliss of the Self. All our desires are pinned on this unconscious drive in us to regain our lost heritage, 'the kingdom of heaven' as Christ averred, but really, the empire of the Self. But we must understand that merely chasing desires madly will never bring us closer to this divine bliss. Rather, it will take us further from the goal of achieving peace, bliss and perfect repose. Therefore, the secret of deriving genuine everlasting joy must be learnt and this is the science of Yoga. And seeking refuge at the lotus feet of  a realised soul who can help reveal our inner self to us is an imperative in the spiritual path. Verily has it been said that a human birth, the desire to be free and the association of a great soul are the three requisites for Self-realisation. And such a merciful one arrives when the aspirant is ready, right at his door-step. Jai Gurudev!
