ARISE INDIA 25 ... PUNCTUALITY, THE NATIONAL IMPERATIVE

We as a nation need to cultivate the virtue of punctuality so that we may observe discipline in work. Punctuality is not only the prerequisite of efficiency in work but is also the first step in one's advance towards transcendence of time which is the spiritual goal. Mastery over time is the long-term result of the maintenance of schedules and leads to a progressive loosening of the hold of time on oneself, a noose-like stranglehold that time has initially on all that are terrestrially dated in time. As we aspire to be a world-leader as a nation we need to take stock of this situation everywhere in our national life where work is daily impeded owing to lethargy, lack of order and a plain lackadaisical attitude. This messes up our system completely. Elaboration with illustrations I find unnecessary for we are all well-acquainted with this national malaise. It is time we do something about this menace and do away with it altogether by ourselves being punctual and prompt in the honest conducting of our individual, social and national duties. Only then may we be truly a world-leader in the truest sense of the term. Jai Hind !
