Life is a relay race where one generation passes on the baton of civilisation to the next even as the former in passage beyond terrestrial terrain prepares for a fresh appearance to carry on the process of collective evolution. In the collective good lies individual good and in individual enterprise collective well-being. Thus society carries on, an intricate web of the individual and the clan, the individual and the race, and the individual and the whole of humanity, twined and intertwined in links of love and in the roguish, rusted, retrograde derivative of it, its alter ego, hate. The variegation is such in human society, owing to primordial presetting of diverse patterns in the evolutionary mechanism, that a monolithic order is impossible to attain and wherever the attempt to achieve such uniformity has been made, the result has been a colossal failure. Diversity then is ingrained in the universe, in Nature and, consequently, in the life-forms that have been manifest on earth. The human species is in a like manner diverse to distraction and it is through this variety of manifested life that progress must be made to a wholesome order, never under the dictates of authority but a self-regulated system of extreme refinement in individual discipline and collective harmonic performance, a la symphony of a Mozart or a Bach.
