WHY HUMAN BEINGS ARE SO CONSERVATIVE
Human beings are strangely resistant to change. Organic evolution is slow, indeed. Conservatism seems embedded in human nature, a la inertia of material objects. Thus, new ideas take time to percolate through the resisting crust of the mind. And when at last they grip human consciousness, they become the resistors opposing every other new idea. This time-gap between the idea and the receptacle that holds it is what constitutes the dynamics of psychophysical evolution with all its existential consequences.
