MOHENDRANATH DUTTA

MOHENDRANATH DUTTA

A great Hindu. Mohendranath Dutta, globe-trotter, thinker, author of over a hundred books, a realised modern Rishi, biographer of Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda, Swami Brahmananda and others, chronicler of the social conditions of old Kolkata, younger brother of Swami Vivekananda, celibate saintly soul whose aroma of awakened consciousness quickened many a dedicated one, a multidimensional personality, now living in the periphery of human affections sadly on account of poor mention of his person and attainments by an oblivious polity that has casually chosen to bury genius in unmarked terrain but unlike Mozart on the stormy night of his demise. We need to study Mohendranath to comprehend Ramakrishna. His seminal work 'Sri Sri Ramakrishner Anudhyan', if not read, our understanding of the Master will remain incomplete. It is an imperative on our part to rediscover this titan among the stalwarts of a bygone age whose links we can scarce afford to lose.
