A.2. Because it conserves and transforms otherwise dissipated energy.
Q.3. Is 'Guru' essential?
A.3. Absolutely, for spiritual initiation and subsequent growth.
Q.4. Who is a qualified Guru?
A.4. One whose life and works are founded on absolute purity, who has realised Brahman, is well-versed in the scriptures, and one who can read the prospective disciple's past, present and future.
Q.5. What is 'Brahman'?
A.5. The inexpressible, unitary, fundamental, transcendent, absolute Reality which is behind the facade of the manifold apparent universe. It is the integrated absolute consciousness which is the essence of existence, the changeless constancy of the Being.
Q.6. Why is the universe manifold?
A.6. The universe appears to be manifold because it is being perceived through the fragmented mirror of thought.
Q.7. What is thought?
A.7. Consciousness apparently fragmented.
Q.8. What fragments consciousness?
A.8. The desire of the One to be many.
Q.9. How must one live in this world?
A.9. Be engaged to God and reject all else. Look upon everyone and everything as manifestations of the Divine and accordingly serve all in a spirit of worship but do not associate with evil men. Shun them by all means. Above all, seek the company of holy men.
Q.10. Who is holy and who is unholy?
A.10. He who is immersed in the contemplation of God, who has given up everything for Him and craves for nothing in this world, whose face shines with the light of tranquil peacefulness is holy. And he who is enmeshed in Maya, in the dark designs of this material world and whose association drags one to think low and impure thoughts is unholy.
