POLITICIANS, INDUSTRIALISTS AND DOCTORS --- HEAR YE, THE FOOTSTEPS OF DEATH

You may cling to power, O politician, today and commit all sorts of perfidies but the hour awaits when you will have to leave it all behind. Then your life as it ebbs away will be one of desperate dreams even as failing form withers away and you are reduced to ashes. So will you, O industrialist, who now in the prime of your power and possession of earthly dreams are leading a life of vanity unfair, you who have reduced the springtime of millions into the wintry despair of a famished existence, even your days are numbered on earth and they creep in on you with a steady pace that you cannot prevent. You all who suck up the lifeblood of millions to enjoy on earth your fabricated heaven even as the ones you torment live a hellish life and die of destitution to end their miserable sojourn, none of you will escape the clutches of death and the destruction of all that you hold dear. Time is a terrible judge and inflicts the eventual capital punishment on all save those that conquer her through renunciation of all worldliness. Knowing this to be your eventual fate, now rectify. Change your ways and means and set your course right along the royal avenue of God.

Doctors, do not any more consider yourselves to belong to a privileged profession just because you happen to be in demand in life-threatening situations. You have lost your privileged position and fallen low in public estimation simply by your own karma. You, who profit by others' pain and enjoy life thereof, have forgotten the Hippocratic Oath that enjoins you to serve society better than you at any rate do. There is a colossal corruption in the health sector and the people suffer for the faults of the mercenaries of medicine. It is for you all to serve well and within easy affordability and not conduct a flourishing business at the expense of the patient's family which is so often reduced to penury to feed your increasing demands. The industrialists in the health sector are principally responsible, though, for this abysmal decline in medical morals in so far as charging exorbitant fees and prices for medical services rendered and surgical goods sold. The cost of medicine is also a killer and doctors must make concerted efforts to address this dangerous decline in medical morals by individual honesty and by collective effort. Else, they will have to face the ire of the public evermore. Remember, you may vainly vaunt that you save lives but you will fail to save your own when the hour comes. And it is coming. None can escape, neither will you. So, mend your ways while time there is yet and serve the human gods and goddesses as Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda have enjoined us all to do.

With blessings to all and the exhortation to alter selfish ways that hinder humanity,I remain ever yours in Ramakrishna-Vivekananda,Sugata Bose
