IS HINDU HURT ANY LESS THAN MUSLIM HURT? WHY THIS CONTRASTING RESPONSE TO INFRINGEMENT OF FAITH THEN? POINT TO PONDER.

IS HINDU HURT ANY LESS THAN MUSLIM HURT? WHY THIS CONTRASTING RESPONSE TO INFRINGEMENT OF FAITH THEN? POINT TO PONDER.

Is Hindu hurt any less than Muslim hurt? Hindus are not resorting to violence for disparaging remarks made against Bhagavan Shiva. Why are Muslims not following suit then? Why this complete contrast in religious response, this dreadful violence unleashed in the name of violated faith? Where lies the difference in approach to things divine when it comes to Hindus and Muslims?

How long must this torment last? Is infringed faith above the sanctity of the individual? Must the past rule the present thus? Whither progress then? Whither humanity in religion? Or, is this religion at all when mob takes law into its own hands and anarchy follows?

What sort of a following of a faith is this that does not feel a bit of remorse for mass violence done unto men, materials and minds simply because people choose to feel upset by stray remarks about one's venerated one? Is anybody so sacrosanct that this sort of mayhem may be allowed to rule the roads of a secular democracy for even a day? And the rampage has now been on for four days. What about the death-threats, rape-threats and beheading-calls issued in the hundreds of thousands from within the country and without that leave no room for one to have patience with these fanatical adherents of absolutist faiths?

And, yet, people quietly subscribe to the damning doctrines to avoid danger to person, profile and property.

Is 'Satyameva Jayatey' our national credo anymore? On the face of it, it seems, we have renounced truth and accepted convenience of commercial interest, geopolitical positioning and hypocrisy in one sweeping development that can only encourage these hostile elements to further push on with their perfidious political agenda, for what is going on is orchestrated politics with the facade of faith.

If today we do not resort to upholding truth, free speech and rational discourse uninhibited by undue legal restrictions, we are in for darker days ahead, for the forces of evil never relinquish their hold on their perceived victims but must be defeated on the basis of truth that fears no curtailment on Constitutional grounds.
