WHEN ROGUES TAKE TO THE ROADS

Why this disproportionate reaction to perceived blasphemy by 'peaceful' people of the 'religion of peace'? And where is the blasphemy incurred as such when Sahih Bukhari 5134 has been quoted by Nupur Sharma, the Hadith that is recognised universally by Muslims as true? Why is it that Muslims are so sensitive to so-called defamation of their prophet but insensitive to the enormous pain they thereby in reprisal cause to the rest of humanity who far outnumber them? Can veneration of anybody, however great in particular popular perception, however 'exemplary' in manners and modes even unto being the 'perfect model' for all of humanity for all time to come, be the justifiable cause of such vile violence bordering on the insane that is periodically inflicted by Muslims on who they perceive to be the offender and the enemy of Islam?

Yesterday it was Salman Rushdie, Taslima Nasreen, Charlie Hebdo, Theo Van Gogh, Ayan Hirsi Ali, Kamlesh Tiwari and a whole host of others, too numerous to name.  Today it is Nupur Sharma. Tomorrow it could be anybody. Where lies the disease -- in the critics of Islam or in its few fanatical fringe elements who are brainwashed by corrupt clerics who rule the roost over the vast majority of silent 'moderate' Muslims who are too petrified to oppose them and bring sanity to their house?

Perhaps, a fair bit of moderation on both sides is the best compromise for peace but should critical enquiry and free speech be so held to ransom by a handful of hoodlums and a compliant government? Or, perhaps, there is a deeper conspiracy, a bigger agenda, a vaster network that underground lies and orchestrates these events with telling effect on world peace.
