SATYAMEVA JAYATEY NAANRITAAM

SATYENA PANTHAA VITATO DEVAYAANA

Truth wins but only in the end. All along till the destination is reached, it is the victory of deceit, treachery, falsity and carnality. So we are witnessing today in our nation that is caving in under alien ideological pressure and renouncing its own spiritual principle of standing by truth at any cost.

I understand the pragmatic considerations of realpolitik involved and of the imperative to quell simmering social tensions. But somewhere down the line a message has been sent that one must refrain from opposing adversaries in an equal measure even when barraged with insensitive, insulting remarks about one's own object of veneration. It seems it is a one-way traffic in India where the majority community must suffer indignities in every phase of life, be it in the cultural scene (obscene art depicting our Goddesses and cinema mocking our great God Mahadev) or in the sphere of faith where it has to unduly battle for centuries to salvage its occupied sites of worship.

It took an intrepid woman at last to vociferously express her anguish and anger at vilification of her religion, a lesson for all Hindu men to learn from. This is called manhood. If she erred, it was not in her statement of fact but, perhaps, in her manner of delivery that touched the raw nerve of an easily offended community which engages the world over in violent reprisals over any such perceived offence.

That not a single personality of significance in the country or in the world at large could defend the lady for her statement of truth and that all chose to side with the preset programme of taking political offence at the least bit of verbal criticism of the concerned historical personality proves the utter lack of spine in these men of prominence.

What has boiled down from this whole affair is this that a truthful, fearless, articulate Hindu woman is still not safe from the aggressive action of a whole host of foreign countries bound by a common cause and from enemies within fomenting trouble that borders on delivering dreadful death-threats and malicious molestation-threats.

If in the face of such dastardliness we fail to stand by our beloved daughter of the land, we will have failed in the discharge of our dharma and reduced our manhood to a mockery. Shall we suffer such an ignominy then?

🕉 Shanti! Shanti! Shanti! 🕉
