Let Anglophiles stoop low even today to please their British masters, do curtsy to their Queen of England, but you, my valorous and proud sisters and brothers, must hold hard to your national tradition of the warrior princes who went ahead with the 'Saka', of the warrior princesses who performed the 'Jauhar' to defend their indefensible fortresses, to uphold their honour in chastity, and to defy the barbarous invading Mohammedan tribes that attempted to defile the culture and purity of our race even as they set about their vile campaigns of conquest, conversion, loot and lust. Even the conquering Greeks under Alexander had been thwarted thus by our women who performed the rites of self-immolation to save their honour.
But the Greeks left behind the Gandhara School of Art. The Mohammedans left behind wonderful palaces and forts. But the British would leave behind only 'mounds of broken brandy bottles' when they were gone, so said the great Swami Vivekananda, and how right he was, for the bottles keep breaking unto the day as men, intoxicated with their prior patrons, keep chanting 'God save the Queen !' And this last gift of the 'philanthropic' British unto us, 'uncivilised natives', was the worst of all that they left behind barring the Partition of their colony. They left behind hundreds of thousands of Anglophiles who pollute the freedom of the motherland till date with their sustained British loyalty and unending curtsies to the Queen of England.
May the Mother grant us freedom from such corruption in national culture ! Vande Mataram !
