IN THE DARK HOUR OF THE NIGHT WHEN IT FLASHES LIGHT FOR A WHILE

What does the man of the world know of love? He knows self-interest so well. Even spiritual orders spurn love for money, justifying collection to solidify welfare work. Thus is the Avatār's pronouncement for the Age spurned as society advances to its peril. 

In the darkened hours of the midnight sun, when the cloud cover of ignorance has shifted a little, comes the touch of the Divine, the spark of the Soul, and it is revealed unto one the vanity that is life with all its attachments and associations, all its vainglorious pursuits and prizes. Then in the ashes of the burning ghat one witnesses the futility of all that one has held dear, and one is released unto moments of freedom before the mosses cover the reflecting waters again and one is once more where one was, a creature trapped in space and time with all its binding conditions. But the memory lingers and beckons one on unto a fresher night of dark light.

Be brave. Face the brute. Do not water down truth. Truth is power. Know it, live it, wield it. It is the saviour. Do not let apologists rule. Root out evil. Our polity needs health. Be strong. Do not bow down to money. Rule it. Commerce is nothing, character everything. If character be there, all else will follow, will flow. Raise yourself. Raise the masses. Be ready. Ready others. All crises must be overcome through awareness, awakening, alertness, anticipation and right response. The devil must not be dealt with in a divine way. It must be brought to book. Power must not become playmate to profit. The monk must lead from his position of poverty, not from his palace of profit in the name of raised subscription, induced donation. Let him be a leading light guiding all by practised principles, experienced truth, not a public entertainer singing and dancing to further induce mass effeminacy. Let no hypocrisy masquerade as messianic wholesomeness, saintly sanity. Hands off! Either live the whole truth or sign off from assumed emblem of titular spirituality. Be clean. Do not misguide. Let people find out the truth and decide. Retribution is coming. History is on edge, at its turning point upswing. Human society must revolve from half-truths, untruths and outright lies to truth that never dies despite suppression of ages. Profit must give way to principle. Selflessness must supplant selfishness. Crafty cunning must yield its evil bastion to wisdom fair and fine. Humanity must triumph. 🕉

THE HOLD OF FAITH, OF BELIEF, SUPERSTITION ET AL

Spiritual superstition has imagination, hope, desire and an otherworldly feeling, almost an intuitive precognition of a sense of immortality, wedded to it which makes it so persistently present in human life, as an idea almost impossible to remove from the nervous system despite all attempts at mass rationalisation to the contrary. Man has seemingly been programmed through ages of experience where superstitious beliefs have become part and parcel of his being and refuses to budge even in the teeth of death-dealing rationalisation and clings on to the nervous system's conservative set-up to defy logic and reason and scientific light streaming in. No wonder Stalin, assuredly in the context of Abrahamic religions, had famously said, "Religion like conscience can neither be stifled nor stilled." The words 'like conscience' perhaps indicate that there is a subjective truth to religion which defies destruction even at the hands of dictators and persists despite all effort at elimination of its shadowy surface self. Swami Vivekananda had said as well that so long as there was a thing called death, God would be there as a sort of big brother, a sort of personified 'help'. And we see even in the blazing light of modern science the growing hold of religion---with all its art and music, literature and philosophy, and no less its superstitions galore---on the mind of man, shaping for good and for evil the destiny of nations, of peoples and of humanity en masse as it traverses through the twilit corridors of an uncharted future.

Sugata Bose @Debaprasad Bhattacharya : That is diplomatic linguistic armour as well, stating truths in velvety language that exposes the enemy without causing obvious hurt which would have a bitter effect on the audience. The idea is to send the hard message across in soft terms that wins over the audience to our side. It is 'Operation Velvety War' at which Tharoor is a master. His long experience at the United Nations has taught him the art of diplomatic mediation which with his fabulous vocabulary and not inconsiderable intellect has made him such an articulate adversary that pulverises opponents in a civilised way without humiliating them as to render relations sterile. His fluency, diction and overall civility of bearing are a treat, a rarity in today's world of rough rendering and rude retorts. However, I do agree with you that Tharoor's verbal sophistication often fails to make its mark on the mind of the commoner which is why he is not a mass leader but a diplomat as if by birth. His audience belongs to the highest echelons of the intellectual community where the seeds he sows bear fruition in their appointed hour. His talents have largely been wasted post his retirement from diplomatic life as he languishes in a party that has lost its moorings in the political life of the nation and persistently props up personalities of far lesser attributes as leaders than Shashi Tharoor eminently is. For once Tharoor has found his vocation since retirement from UN and is doing a commendable job. Hope he is utilised better by the nation in what he is best at by the ruling dispensations of the day.

The quality of readership is declining by the day. Anything subtle seems to elude common comprehension. Humour is no more dish digestible and sarcasm a sauce a bit too bitter. 

One cannot lower one's standard of self-expression to accommodate innocence of readers in the subtleties of language and must bide by time till generations evolve to more refined perception. If most cannot follow the drift of my posts, cannot fathom the depth but spray about the froth, then let language persist in its impersonal self without bothering to breathe the dusty air of roadside construction of blocks and squares without art or poetry. Culture must be preserved despite it all, despite its precipitous fall consequent on catering to communication with the commoner who is hardly kith and kin to deep thinking. 

The Buddha democratised communication by speaking in colloquial terms and forsook the classical language. The masses understood his message in their rustic way for a while before the neglect of Sanskrit took its cultural toll from which we are yet to recover. Thus, if most refuse to read in between lines the way the author intends his writings to be read, it is not for the author fearing readership loss to lower literary level but it is his call to his vocation to persist in the practice of his art irrespective of reader comprehension. 

Nature is an open book for the deepest thinkers to decipher its hieroglyphics and for the shallow to marvel at its surface beauty or not to bother at all, caring only to draw respiratory and digestive nourishment from it for survival at the organic animal level. But Nature does not budge or lower standards. Billions of years, millions pass before civilisation peeps in, peers into its secrets to set the ball rolling. But the fire thus ignited, the wheel thus set in motion can scarce move this mountainous mass called the masses who continue to roll in ignorance, spark off surface tensions and in general keep dancing to the ball of base desire and baser understanding. Does Nature accommodate? Must authors?

National concentration has to be built up, intellectual focus, timely diplomatic responses to false narratives floated by the enemy in the international arena, less of bureaucratic hyper-guarded language that dares not speak the truth about the enemy's actions and perceived intent, less of media hype and jingoism as if television anchors are going to settle international scores on night-time shows, less of commerce made out of human catastrophe and wartime emergency, and, above all, less of political point-scoring over each other using exploits of the Indian Armed Forces. Most importantly, though, is national unity at a time when our soldiers are at 'war', solidarity of the nation through the thick and thin of operations so that the morale of the forces is held high with our unconditional civilian support. One of the greatest contributions of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission to the Hindutva cause, other than Hindutva deriving its very sustenance from Swami Vivekananda's philosophy, has been that of Swami Akhandananda's spiritual initiation and energising of Guru Golwalkarji in his youth at the Sargachhi Ramakrishna Ashrama where the youth served his great Guru in his final years and carried his mortal frame to Belur Math post his mahasamadhi. The blessings of Swami Akhandananda are there on the RSS forever, making it a powerhouse of Sanatan regeneration in every phase of national life and in a globalised society even beyond. Swami Vivekananda's devoted brother disciple Swami Akhandananda was and Guru Golwalkarji was Swami Akhandananda's devoted disciple. There runs the Guru-shishya paramparā which has and will forever invigorate the RSS-led Hindutva movement in its bid to rejuvenate Sanatanis once more in their onward march through the tide of times.

SIKHS AND HINDUS ARE ONE

Sikhism is an offshoot of Hinduism. It came into being as a reaction to Islamic invasive destruction of everything Hindu in North India during the days of the Delhi Sultanate. It became a purifying Hindu movement shorn of traditional trappings of caste and gender and rituals that weakened Hindu 'samāj' by dividing it. It resuscitated Hinduism even as it protected it against Islamic proselytism. The birth of Sikhism, thus, has tremendous historical significance, especially in its being pivotal to saving Hinduism from the proselytism of Islam in Northern India. Therefore, to create a rift between Sikhs and Hindus is mischievous and has an antinational intent. 

The Sikh faith is part and parcel of the Mother Faith, the Sanatan Dharma. The ten Sikh Gurus all considered themselves as Hindus. The ninth and the tenth Sikh Gurus, namely, Guru Tegh Bahadurji and Guru Gobind Singhji were martyred in their struggle to save Hinduism from Islamic (Mughal) aggression. So was the fifth Sikh Guru, Arjan Devji, martyred at the hands of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. The sixth, seventh and eight Gurus in Har Gobindjii, Har Raiji and Harkrishanji also militarily resisted the Mughals, and so did the ninth Guru, Tegh Bahadurji. It was the tenth Guru, Gobind Singhji, though, who gave final shape to Sikh resistance which totally transformed his following and created a lasting impact on the Sikhs and on our national history. 

The theology of Sikhism, its monotheistic root in the Omkar (🕉) and its foundational principles enunciated by the great Guru Nanak Devji are all derived from the Vedas which the seer saw in his spiritual realisations and revalidated them, for it is in the Rishi's realisations that documented revelations of the past gain fresh validation. 

Sikhism, as Guru Gobind Singhji gave practical shape to it in finality in the form of the Khālsā, became the defender of the Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism) and the Sanatanis (Hindus). This was the martial wing of the mother faith, now newly forged but maintaining the ancient kshatriya spirit. In fact, were it not for the Sikhs, North India would have entirely fallen to the Dawah and the Jihādi sword of Islam. 

Sikhism saved Hinduism and we must bear eternal gratitude to the Sikhs, their forefathers who are our forefathers as well, for their valorous defence of the Dharma then and now and blossoming evermore unto the untrodden fragrant future. 

Hence, always remember that Hindus and Sikhs are one, and inseparably so, and cannot be sundered by dastardly antinational forces. All such separatist notions are rejected, all separatist activity resisted by Sanatanis in solidarity with the Sikhs who are our very own in life and spirit, in blood and toil, a valorous martial sect of the Mother Faith, bravehearts of the motherland in whose defence they so fearlessly keep sacrificing their precious lives, as if in remembrance of their martyr Gurus who gave their all to protect the Hindus in their hour of civilisational peril at the hands of invasive Islam. 

Wahe Guru ki fateh! Wahe Guru ki Khālsā! Sat Shree Ākāl! 🕉

But necessity is one thing and greed another, especially if Thakur's own monastic order violates such spiritual stipulation of its Avatar-founder. The Order is giving in to the third dreaded human vice, greed, as its economic activities by way of raising funds in various ways which are not quite in keeping with its own erstwhile lofty tradition are concerned. 

"The bane of a spiritual order is when it hangs on to the sleeves of the rich," says Swami Vivekananda. So you see. Rome has witnessed the spiritual downfall of the Christian Church, Bharatvarsha has seen the downfall of the Buddhist Order, and the first clear signs of spiritual decay and material ascendancy are being perceived by the discerning eye in the Ramakrishna Order. Whether devotees should resist it or facilitate the decline is upto them. Myself have long chosen the path of sounding the bell. Of course, this decline has decades back started when the Mission chose to legally de-Hinduise itself before being brought back to sanity by the three member Supreme Court bench in 1995. 

You see, Mahamaya weaves her deception net imperceptibly and the chess players aren't aware of the wrong moves they are making but the bystander, if he is knowledgeable in the game, can point them out. (Ref: Thakur's parable to the effect) But men innocent of the nuances of the game can only cheer on the erring player to his checkmated end. 

Reams can I write on this but will you have the patience or openness of mind to lend me your eyes? (Ref: Mark Anthony's speech in 'Julius Caesar') Hence, I conclude this not-so-brief observation. 🕉 Hindu!

Hence, he gives us a hint of its date of birth. He is testing us, his nephews and nieces, and also giving us a hint as to the potential intellectual capacity of his progeny and great progeny in the making in the womb of futurity whose evidence we are to our daily delight witnessing now. This is a perfect demonstration of Nehruvian honest submission of history, deflected only by years five, much like the deflection of the left ear from the right ear by the width of the face intermediate. Therein lies historical distortion, deliberate and not so deliberate, of the Nehruvian era where deflection of years merely represents an honest endeavour in dishonesty. Now, you are correcting such historical heresies, my friend. How unthinking of you! How utterly uncharitable such utterance! 🕉 Satyam Jnānam Anantam Brahma! 🕉 Hindu!

His facial expression has also been tampered with to render it more feminine which is a travesty of truth. This is the despicable state of decadent devotion these days of growing effeminacy which he abhorred. We have had so many revolutionaries in our close and extended family but have had only one such in the army. Cowardice has assumed its pseudonym in culture even as culture has plummeted to its nadir. Now we are neither hither nor thither. I keep thundering away against all inequities but receive scant response by way of readership. Write soft superficial stuff and you have gallants galore following you. Touch a raw nerve in the body of established institutions or individuals and you have to dine alone in the desert, deserted by all the bhadraloks who would dance instead round rosy illusions and dainty delusions reinforced daily by their dope-delivering mentors of soaring speeches and lost morality. The kshatriya spirit is well nigh gone and it is lazy rumination in the past that defines Bengal today. Even unto the day is the evil thereof. We must turn on a new leaf. You have already been up the branch there while most of us have not even approximated the garden where flowers die to live in fruition that the orchard thereof may flourish and afforest as yet infertile fields that this vast human concourse in its variegated distribution seems to be. 🕉

It relates to the current scenario, the abysmally low representation of Bengalis in the Armed Forces today and for some decades past. There is no Bengal Regiment in the Army, mark it. As for the part relating to devotion to Bapu, well, that is by way of pure sarcasm to highlight the fundamental point of the, should I say, aversion of the Bengalis from joining the Armed Forces.

Sugata Bose @Thakurdas Shrestha : Kashmir has been bleeding since late 14th century when the first wave of Hindu persecution by Muslims began which culminated in the first exodus of the Hindus from the valley in 1405. Thereafter, six more Hindu exoduses have happened with the seventh and the last one till date occurring in 1990. Once a totally Hindu-Buddhist habitat, Kashmir is now 98% Muslim by habitation consequent on continuous persecution of Kashmiri Hindus by the Muslims there. But whether Hindu, Buddhist or Muslim by affiliation to faith, Kashmir was, is and will remain an integral part of India. The expelled Pandits will have to be rehabilitated there and with the reconversion process taking root and the reverting to the Mother fold of erstwhile Sanatanis who had historically been perverted from the faith, Kashmir will regain its former glory as the cultural hub of ancient and pre-Mohammedan medieval India. 🕉 Hindu!

Sugata Bose @Ram Singh : You may think that the comment is insensitive but if you reflect you will find that there is a germ of truth in it. Not all are equipped linguistically to speak in sophisticated terms while attempting to communicate an idea but we ought to take the positive intent of the language used and not its apparently insensitive implication merely while pronouncing our judgement thereon. A comprehensive view of the comment would make it intelligible while being up in arms on a partisan or even human basis would render understanding sterile. However, the observation of the gentleman would have been better off if limited merely to men and not extended to the fairer sex of gentler attributes as well who lived on to witness the horrific crimes perpetrated on their husbands. Labelling them as being devoid of courage is distasteful doubtlessly and cannot be condoned. But compulsory military training imarted to all and sundry of a suitable age would make a marked difference in the scheme of things in future and needs to be seriously considered. 🕉 Hindu!

The best way Hindus can influence the world into accepting the universal principles of the Upanishads is to practise their religion well instead of clamouring cacophonous over the weaknesses of other faiths. While defending Hindu rights is justified, the best defence would still be to religiously practise the Dharma and lead a life of principled purity. Precept fails to teach where practice makes its mark for sure. In witnessing devout Hindus practising their faith, people from other faiths will be attracted to the Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism) and accept it as their spiritual habitat as well.

The reason why after over a thousand years of Islamic and later Christian occupation in India (here spoken strictly from the angle of religious affiliation of the invaders) the Hindus, despite massive conversion to Islam and Christianity, could not be wiped out as a religious force and even today maintain such a huge following crossing a billion is on account of the constant appearance on the national scene of Hindu saints, sages, seers and savants who through their ardent practice of the faith kept alive the flame of the Vedas. These spiritual luminaries have been the living lights of Hinduism and have saved it from utter annihilation at the proselytising hands of Islam and Christianity. They created their spiritual movements and gathered millions of fresh adherents to their sects. These followers in turn, rejuvenated by the inspiring message of their spiritual masters, obeyed their instructions and practised the faith which kept Hinduism in all its myriad manifestation vibrant and alive.

It thus stands to reason for us, modern Hindus, to emulate the instance of our forefathers and practise our faith with ardour so that we may spread its influence across the wide world and help usher peace and harmony in its otherwise violently tormented order. In doing so we will do Hinduism a far greater service than we are wont to doing so now en masse through our collective cacophony about rights lost and freedoms infringed and religious space transgressed by aggressors in diverse ways. May we follow in the footsteps of our great sages and fulfil their expectations of us, and only then call ourselves Hindus, otherwise not! May Sri Ramakrishna, who was the embodiment of the Vedas, whose life was the highest commentary on the Upanishads and who was a veritable Ganga of spirituality himself, bless us all in our common endeavour to enliven ourselves spiritually and with it to vivify our ancient religion, the grandest ever man has conceived in his spiritual odyssey thus far! May the Sanatan Dharma through our collective, creative, active endeavour triumph over those inimical forces that are trying to crush it in its onward course! Charaiveti! (Onward!)

TOO LOW THIS, COMRADE!

At a time of national crisis when we are in combat-conflict with our neighbouring nation, we should all stand in solidarity with the government and with the armed forces. Those that are questioning the motives of the government and the Prime Minister at this critical juncture are patently exposing themselves as antinationals and need to be isolated as rogue elements tending to erode the faith of our people in the government and, so, weakening the resolve of our nation in fighting the enemy. Where camouflaged activity of such kind is going on, such miscreants must be identified and isolated as well. We are despite democratic differences one when it comes to defending the sovereignty of our nation and the security of our citizens from external aggression, be they outright war or proxy war in the shape of jihādi terror. May our motherland tide over umpteen hindrances en route to preserving her territorial integrity and sovereignty, and fulfilling her unique spititual mission on earth! Vande Mataram! Jai Hind! 🕉

Moderate Muslims are munafiqs (hypocrites), hence, not true Muslims. This lack of fanatical faith in every letter of the Deen and faith in reason and good sense makes them patriotic. But the true believers consider such moderation heresy, as the Word of their God is absolute, to the very letter and, hence, inviolable. There can be no moderation in the Deen. Every unabrogated verse of the Qur'an is binding on the believer and he cannot budge from it an inch by citing altered circumstance and compulsions of modernity. 

Islam divides the world into the realm of war (Dar-ul-Harb) and the realm of Islam (Dar-ul-lslam) and it is by waging a constant multidimensional war (jihād) that the Muslim (momin/mominā) must convert the former to the latter. The whole body of believers, local and global, national and transnational, forms the Ummā (Muslimdom) and no Muslim must fight against his brother or sister believer. 

Jihād is fundamental to Islam and it makes Islam no less a political movement than a religious one. If a Muslim falls in jihādi combat, he becomes a martyr (shaheed) and flies fast to heaven (jannat) to be rewarded with luscious dream damsels and associated appetizers in milk and honey, scented breeze and cool shade, palatial house and able-bodied servants at his beck and call. Every true Muslim's dream is to be martyred in warfare against the infidel (kafir) after killing as many of them as possible to become Ghāzi with Jannat waiting for him Inshallah (God willing). 

Reams may be written on Islam and jihād but I'll end the note here by saying that Islam has never faced a dearth of desperate devotees desirous of death in jihādi activity. When hundreds of millions of Momins are held captive to jihādi ideology and a large number actually crave for death in combat against the kafir, we have a very serious problem at hand.
