INDEPENDENCE OUGHT NEVER BE BY WAY OF ALMS-RECEIVING

INDEPENDENCE OUGHT NEVER BE BY WAY OF ALMS-RECEIVING

So many of our problems have stemmed from the fact that we adopted compromise and cooperation with the British to beg of them freedom. We ought to have been robust enough to drive them away. For this we needed 'an army of disciplined workers' as Subhas Chandra Bose had said in his Haripura Presidential address but, alas, that was not to be. Gandhiji's fear of so-called violence against the violent British and its reverse repercussions on an aspirant polity seeking independence, his intransigence on policy decisions for independence and machinations thereof to oust Bose from the Congress mainstream, all these sounded the death knell for the emerging nation as it breathed in its first free air amidst diabolical dismemberment.

What the All-India Muslim League and the British have done to this ancient motherland of ours, they must reap its consequences one day for sure as history recoils in its counter phase on them and settles the karmic question. But India, nonetheless, has already paid for the past karma of her children in weakening her polity and it is time that we, the inheritors of the independence we enjoy, contribute our due share to the strengthening of the motherland en route to the restoration of its age-old territorial integrity and cultural solidarity. Towards that end let us work day in and day out till the aspired end be achieved as the primary step towards the building up of a global civilisation based on the Vedantic culture of the divinity of all of humanity, nay, of all sentience and, even further, of all of phenomena.
