SRI BIJOY NAG -- OCTOGENARIAN WITH A DIFFERENCE

SRI BIJOY NAG -- OCTOGENARIAN WITH A DIFFERENCE

Sri Bijoy Nag is a venerable octogenarian of indefatigable vigour who along with several dedicated associates has been running the 'Jayashree', a journal started by his aunt Leela Nag of hallowed revolutionary remembrance. Bijoy Babu is a gentleman of unimpeachable character and pristine patriotic fervour whose very association ennobles one. He breathes Netaji and literally lives his message to his countrymen.

I have had the occasion to meet Sri Bijoy Nag a couple of times and have been moved by his reserved restraint in speech and manners with his erect posture expressive of his rectitude in demeanour and dealing, and his distant delving look redolent of his devotion to the peerless patriot who governs his soul. Such supreme self-effacing, yet, dignified submission to the beloved leader I have not beheld in others who I have had the occasion to hold conversation with and, thus, I bear a genuine feeling of reverence for this gentleman of confirmed commitment to the cause ahead of all other personal considerations such as the acquisition of name and fame or money, which more these dedicated ones have spent than ever attempted to earn for service rendered to Netaji.

Such total devotion to the revolutionaries one seldom beholds in the crop of relatively younger researchers and scholars and speaks eloquently about the impression Bhagavanji has left indelibly on the minds of his associates. In this connection it is most meet that I mention that Bijoy Nag was blessed by Bhagavanji in person in Faizabad.
