WIZARD OF THE WILLOW ... 1

1. Indian cricket must abjure the growth of personality cult. The team comes above all and the individual must be subservient to it.

2. Running onto the playing field and manhandling the batsman who has just scored a century is a practice that must stop immediately.

3. Cheating is cheating and is in no way gamesmanship.

4. The way the track is responding to spin so early on must embarrass Kohli in the light of Jadeja's exclusion from the playing eleven.

5. Three pacers and two spinners ought to be the standard composition of the playing eleven overseas. That lends balance to the attack.

6. South Africa has foiled India's pace ploy by pitching in for a placid track. Intelligence wins the battle yet again or so it seems.

7. Shikhar Dhawan axed for non-performance in a single Test in which all the batsmen had failed. Wonder what went through Kohli's mind.

8. Strange selection of the Indian team in the second Test. Bhuvaneswar Kumar left out and Jadeja omitted too. The move will backfire.

9. Kohli's brilliant century. Captain's knock. Pandya's casual run-out calls for severe censure. Arrogance has to pay for itself.

10. If  you have not learnt to drag in your bat to the crease despite being an international cricketer, you had better been dropped once.

11. Basic cricketing knowledge ought to be there in our players. Pandya's run-out is an abysmal exhibition of sheer casual negligence.

12. How reminiscent of a similar run-out of Ganguly years ago that Pandya's run-out is! Lessons of life never learnt. Shame!

13. Well played and well left --- this is the dictum of batting in cricket and this is the dictum of life as well.

14. Was Tendulkar a greater batsman than Vivian Richards?

15. Slide in to safety when you complete a run; keep not your bat hanging up with your dipping fate.

16. Tendulkar and Lara were the preeminent batsmen of their era by the consensus of connoisseurs. Who was greater?

17. Botham, Imran, Kapil, Hadlee --- the four all-rounders who enlivened the 80s. Which of them is your choice in your own fantasy team?
